December 29, 1948 - Albuquerque Journal (Albuquerque, New Mexico) - One day the fellow was playing first base and Mercer Harris was a shortstop. Mercer Harris was a young sprout who had be discovered by the late Kid Elberfeld simultaneously with Cecil Travis. He could throw a baseball right through you unless you had remembered to put on your chain mail.
