1924 - Little Rock, AR - Kid Elberfeld Time Line
February 2, 1942 - Appleton Post Crescent (Appleton, Wisconsin) - Manusch has Stance like "Kid" Elberfeld - Outfield Manusch of the Tygers, whom Ty Cobb predicts will be a star in a couple of years, doesn't pull in inch at the plate. For that reason he is often hit by pitched balls that other batsmen would avoid. The veteran Kid Elberfeld had such a stance and was much hit. In a great many cases the umpire wouldn't permit him to go down, claiming he failed to try to avoid the pitch.
