KID ELBERFELD MAY BE RELEASED OUTRIGHT
Washington. Jan. 13—Just what the local club will do with Kid Elberfeld Is becoming a problem. The failure of the Chattanooga club to purchase the veteran has thrown him on the market, but there are no bidders. It was hinted that George Stallings would want Elberfeld for his Buffalo team, and so Manager Griffith wrote Stallings, asking what he would bid. He received a letter in reply to the effect that he could not use Elberfeld, and Griffith is at sea what to do with the Kid. He cannot use him on his team, and there does not appear to be any minor league club willing to buy him. Elberfeld cost the local club $5,000 and in addition thereto he drew a similar amount of salary every season that he played here. Griffith feels that the club should receive something in return for him, now that it has been decided to let him out, but there are no bidders, and it may come down to a point where Griffith will merely have to release him outright.
