It was not all the fault of the Alabama "gobbler" that the Cracker total was so large, for the Travelers played another of their well known games of townball this afternoon and Roman didn't have the right sort of an opportunity to get a win his first time out. Four of the Travelers' bad plays are registered in the error column, but they represent only the misplays of the hand-- the bobbies of tne head are not recorded out they were numerous and they were very painful to one Norman A Elberfeld.
However, something else that happened to day was far more painful to the Tobasco Kid than anything his own ball players pulled. The Kid was chased off the bench and into the grandstand by Umpire Blackburn; Elberfeld remained on the bench today and did not attempt to. worry the Cracker pitchers from the coaching lines. However, Umpire Blackburn objected to the line of chatter the Kid fired from the bench and ordered Elberfeld out of the park. The Kid quit the bench, but saw the remainder of the game from a box within easy signaling-distance of the Traveler bunch,
Although the Travelers routed one of Charley Frank's rookie pitchers, "Lefty" Aiken, they did not help their batting averages any by doing It. Their total of hits for the afternoon was only three, two by Walsh and one-by Frierson. Joe Thorburn relieved Aiken in the fifth ' and held the Travelers scoreless for the remainder of. the game. "
