August 4, 1914 - Colorado Spring Gazette (Colorado Springs, Colorado) - Rube Waddell Story
Sherlock Holmeses of Baseball
By Billy Murphy
As to individuals, Rube Waddell had only one batter that he dreaded. This was the diminutive Kid Elberfeld.
Any kind of a ball Waddell would throw the Kid would hop on.
It became almost pathetic to see the efforts Waddell would make to stop Elberfeld - and almost always fail.
