Elberfeld Still Under Ban
Manager Griffith Will Consider His Request for Reinstatement.
Norman Elberfeld, shortstop of the Yankees, who was suspended indefinitely about two weeks ago for playing indifferent baseball, reported to Manager Griffith at American League Park yesterday and requested that he be reinstated. Elberfeld was in excellent mood, and sought the forgiveness of his manager, but Mr. Griffith said he would take the matter under consideration.
Elberfeld witnessed the game between the Yankees and White Sox, and then returned to his home at Suffern with the suspension still in effect.
Manager Griffith last night would not say whether Elberfeld would be reinstated in time to join the team on its Western trip next Sunday, but it is probable that "Little Tobasco" will have the ban lifted by that time.
