Standing on the edge of the pool where they will conduct The News-Lake Winnepesaukah swimming school the week of June 21-26, inclusive. Misses Nan Elberfeld (rear) and Edith Elberfeld are pictured. The first named will be head instructor And her sister, Edith, will assist her. Miss Nan Elberfeld is a prominent swimmer and athlete. She holds a master's degree in physical education from Columbia and an examiner's certificate from the American Red Cross Life Saving Corps. Two periods a day will he given to the classes, according to the announcement made today and six lessons will be required for the diploma that will he presented at the close of the session.

Prominent Athlete To Conduct News- Winnepesaukah Course June 21-26.
The annual Chattanooga News-Lake Winnepesaukah "Learn to Swim" campaign will be held this year June 21-26, inclusive at Lake Winnepesaukah. Again Miss Nan Elberfeld will be the head instructor and will he assisted in the work by her sister, Miss Edith Elberfeld. The course will be in six easy lessens that guarantee results. Results to the extent of swimming at least fifty feet, if the person applies himself, that is.
MISSES ELBERFELD ARE competent instructors and among the south's better known swimmers, especially among women. Miss Nan is a University of Chattanooga graduate and received her master's degree in physical education from Columbia University. For three year's Miss Elberfeld was in charge of the pool at the Y.M.C.A. where she gained a fine reputation as a teacher and leader. Miss Nan also holds An examiner's certificate from the American Red Cross Life Saving Corps.
In accepting The News-Winnepesaukah post for another session Miss Elberfeld made this statement:
'Remember the less a person knows about swimming, the easier it is for us to teach him. Age
doesn't matter, the main thing is to overcome the fear of water. There is no sport that gives a more healthful and invigorating exercise than swimming. Everybody should learn to swim."
MISS ELBERFELD EXPLAINS that swimming has a great appeal for women who want to improve their figures. Swimming acts as an "all-over massage" that paradoxically slims the heavy figure and develops too slim ones, the instructor explained further. There will be two lessons a day for the convenience of the pupils. One will be from 10 until 11 o'clock in the morning and the other from 2:30 until 3:30 o'clock in the afternoon
All you have to do to register is to fill out the coupon that will run on the sports pages of The
News and either mail or bring to The News or Lake Winnepesaukah where you will be officially enrolled. The first lesson will be June 21, at 10 am. "Everybody should learn to swim."
