April 30, 1917 - The Birmingham News (Birmingham, Alabama) - Elberfeld out for week
KID ELBERFELD has been forced rom the game on account of illness and the announcement comes from Chattanooga that he will be unable to play for a week. While the Kid Is away it is
stated that Sheehan will have charge of the club and will play second base with Pitler going to short and Ham Hyatt taking the first base Job. It Is to be hoped that the Kid's illness will prove of a minor nature and that he will be back In the game within a week. His absence from the lineup, and his wise counsel will be missed by the Lookouts and it is feared that they cannot maintain their present stride with the guiding spirit of the dull absent from the fold.
