From the eBay site: 1903 Kid Elberfeld - Detroit Tigers - Slides into third - Original Photograph (Not a Reprint) -8x10 Original now owned by John Elberfeld.
Kid was with Detroit until the middle of June 1903, when he was traded to New York, so he could be the Detroit player sliding in.
Cobb did not join Detroit until 1905, so if it Cobb sliding, this has to be a 1905 picture or later. The back of the photo is not dated.
This card indicates that it is Elberfeld sliding, not making the tag.
Mears Online Auctions sold this photo in 2011 and described it as:
Measures 8" x 10". Kid Elberfeld, Detroit Tigers infielder, tries to slide safely to third past an unknown third baseman. On the Reverse: "Elberfeld" hand written in pencil, editor's markings, numbered sticker, The Sporting News stamp, Sporting News Collection hologram. (A0598)This image originated directly from the archives of "The Sporting News" and was intended for use in its pages. Designated as a Generation 1 photo, this image was developed directly from the original photographers negative within approximately one to five years of the depicted person/event. In some instances, usually when a date stamp is present, the photograph was developed within a year or even days of the listed event. Photographers included in the collection include Charles Conlon, George Burke, George Brace, William C. Greene, Alex P. Silverberg, and George Dorrill.
