1972 Classic Cards #64 Kid Elberfeld
This card is from an interesting, tough-to-find set issued in 1972 by Classic Cards of Flint, Michigan. According to some research, two collectors with impressive card collections (Ed Lotz and Ray Billbrough) were behind the set. To us the cards look somewhat similar to the ultra scarce E300 Plow's Candy cards but we cannot confirm that the photos are identical for players appearing in both sets. The cards or photos used by Classic Cards appear to have originated sometime between 1908 and '09. (This timeline is based on Bresnahan appearing as a Giant for whom he played 1903-08. Wid Conroy, however, is pictured as a Washington third baseman. Conroy did not play with the Senators until 1909.) In total, 120 different player cards were issued - a great representation of some of the Dead Ball Era's outstanding (and a few quite obscure) players.
