MIRIAM ELBERFELD WALKER
Miriam Elberfeld Walker, 70, of 791 Buccaneer St., Bokeelia, died Saturday evening in Fort Myers. She was born in Suffern, N.Y., and moved to Florida in 1931 from Signal Mountain, Tenn. She made her residence in Bokeelia in 1957.
She was a former member of the First United Methodist Church of Chattanooga, Tenn. She was a graduate of the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga in 1928 with a B.S. degree and with the magna cum laude honor. She was a member of the Phi Beta Phi sorority at the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga.
She was the daughter of the late Kid Elberfeld (player manager of maior league baseball, Southern Association).
She is survived by her husband, Curtis A. Walker Sr. of Bokeelia; one son, Curtis A. Walker Jr. of Sykesville, Md.; three sisters, Miss Edith Elberfeld of Walden, Tenn., Mrs. Don Overmyer of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Mrs. Benard B. Blevins of Venice, and Signal Mountain, Tenn.; one grandson, Curtis Walker Ill, and one granddaughter, Cynthia Lynn Walker.
Funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Coral Ridge
Gardens in Cape Coral with the Rev. Marvin McClain Jr. officiating.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the North Fort Myers Memorial Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lee County Conservation Association.
