ATHLETICS WILL FIND CUBS EASIER TEAM THAN ALL-STARS
McAleer's Aggregate Would Be Favorites if Pitted Against National League Champions - Friday's Game Here Will Draw Large Crowd.

While the two defeats of the Athletics at the hands of the All-Stars cannot be very encouraging to the admirers of Connie Mack's team, the fact that the Amereican League champions are up against one of the strongest teams that could possibly be gathered should not be over looked. The Cubs cannot boast of a Johnson and Walsh nor a Cobb and a Speaker. Nor have they two catchers anything on Bill Sullivan and Charley Street. Milan is as good an outfielder as any one of the Cubs and Harry Lord a superior third base man to Stelnfeld. McBride and Tinker would size up pretty well, while at the gait Elberfeld has been going in the two games no player in the world could be an Improvement over him. So when you stop to think of it the Athletics are up against just about the toughest kind of a base ball team. They wll not face near as strong pitching in th world's series or be pitted against a tean which is apt to make as many runs as the All-Stars.
Take that All-Star team and put it against the Cubs for a series of games and the All-Stars would be made favorites over the National league champions The Athletics have been beaten by this aggregation, but every one expected them to who gave that line-up a thought. Jim McAleer could start the next season with the team he is playing against the Athletics he would surely be picked to win the pennant. Of that there is no doubt. Incidentally, it is going to be of the greatest help to the Athletics to be forced to face the kind of pitching the All-Stars furnish in every one of the games. A team which goes up against Johnson Walsh and White for a week is very apt to make pitchers of less ability look like; a lot of sand lotters. Certain it is that the Athletics are getting some great practice out of these games.
