November 10, 1901 - The St. Paul Globe MI - Elberfeld as shortstop
THE ST. PAUL GLOBE,
NOVEMBER 10, 1901.
Baseball.
In the American league Norman Elberfeld is rated "king of shortstops." The little fellow has played marvelous ball as a Wolverine [Note: Old name for Detroit Tigers] and won the plaudits of as great a judge of diamond talent as Frank Selee, yet he failed twice in the National league. Philadelphians and Cincinnatians could hardly indorse the American League verdict. The Watkins theory is not a half bad one, and accounts for many a fizzle in the great crops of disappointments that are harvested every season.
