January 14, 1947 The Gettysburg Times (Gettysburg, Pennsylvania) -Eddie Plank Started Pro Baseball Career As Relief Hurler Against Baltimore - By Ernest J. Lanigan - Cooperstown, N. Y., Jan 12 -.. Plank was recently elected to the Hall of Fame here. Eddie's debut in fast company had been effected five days previously in Baltimore. Mack started a pitcher named Baker against McGraw's Orioles and took hjim out after tthe sixth, Plank finishing. Three runs scored on him. He walked a man and fanned one. The number of hits off him remain a mystery. Quaker City fans didn't see Plank until Saturday, June 8, [1901] . Then he conquered Joe Yeager of Detroit, 6-1, The Tigers' earned a run and four hits off him, two by Tabasco Kid Norman Elberfeld
July 4, 1947 - Star Tribune (Minneapolis, Minnesota) - A bronze plaque honoring the memory of Norman (Kid) Elberfeld, known as the "Tobasco Kid" because of his fiery tember, will be unveiled at the Chattanooga park of the Southern association Sunday. Elberfeld, after a colorful playing career in the major leagues and Southern Association was managing the Chattanooga club at the time of his death.
