March 21, 1906 - The New York Times - Birmingham Too Cold for Baseball
Birmingham Too Cold for Baseball.
Special to The New York Times.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. March 20.-It is exercise of the legs only that the Greater New Yorks are able to get here. Cold has set in good and stout, and the city Is as frozen as New York, Griffith believes. Throughout the morning the men exercised at the Athletic Club and this afternoon the players indulged in a game of hare and hound. Elberfeld and Chesbro were the hares and the remainder pursued. " Noodles " Hahn again led the runners to the hotel. The visitors and the Birminghams will play a regular game just as soon as the weather permits. The sight of the sun to-day just before evening leads many to believe that Spring is on the way. It is the coldest March that has struck this section In many years.
